“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer”-Albert Camus.
The last leaf has fallen off leaving the branches to wither away in the solitary confinement of the cold;as if someone has drawn rough lines across the barren white canvas. Her life portrayed no different story for she has just suffered heartbreak.
Life never stops for anyone or anything and it did move on. She had to temporarily mend the broken pieces. But then as said, when you think nothing can go wrong, it does and when you believe nothing can go right, it does!
He had never seen someone so beautiful. Her lips muttering out the most extraordinary words that he had ever heard, small locks of hair falling over her face, those eyelashes perfectly kissing each other at intervals and the best of all her eyes-a mirror, one could see her soul through them. It had been an odd encounter but the effects were lasting one. He simply couldn’t get her out of his mind. And at that moment if the genie would have granted him a wish; he would definitely have asked for a single glance of her.
He was granted the unsaid wish at the university, sitting in the front row of his class and all he could was stare at his heart’s content.
In days that followed they grew close and a bond of friendship between them blossomed. But even when there was closeness yet a strange distance bridged them. His amazing sense of humour had remarkably helped to heal the wounds. She was aware of his attraction but she couldn’t afford the risk, too much damage had already been done and a second blow to the heart would mean breaking it into thousands unmendable pieces.Precaution was a necessity.
A fallen leaf has no resistance against the wind likewise a weak heart can never resist love. She had to give in.
It was like a beautiful dream come true to him,she had finally agreed to go out. That entire afternoon went into finding the right attire and when it was the final moment to step out,a butterfly fluttered swirling around inside her stomach. She was nervous as well excited at the same time.
She looked marvellous,as if fairy godmother had twisted her wand over her.And while she walked down towards him,her smile like million clicks at the same time. They watched a film at the Broadway and later walked about hand in hand at the park. It was late and the crowd had departed leaving just the couple seated at a bench to them.
A thought of their first meeting crossed his mind, of how he had dashed to this beauty and like a flash his life had changed. On the other end,she smiled to herself thinking of how she had misjudged him and taken him to be a crook dashing past girls and of those abuses she had muttered to him. He had made it easy for her let the past memories stay in the past and to have new memories of present. And now, they were here making newer memories.
They looked into each other’s eye and embraced and kissed. Someone just added the pixie dust and they were in a different world altogether, their world.A world full of just love and love.
Up above the clouds, two cupids high fived saying, “See, this time I did hit the bull’s eye!”
