Chapter One
The warm sand under the tiny feet and there was a calmness in the sea while the two kids from the neighborhood in their bathing trunks walked down to the beach carrying their yellow sand bucket.
Its was their favorite time together.Sundays usually meant 'fun days',playing, cycling, making sand castles at the beach or going down to the park.
"Darry! let's make it here" little Raquel questioned and they both sat down for the entire afternoon breaking and building castles.
Darryl,a sixth grader had known Raquel since childhood and kindergarten. They had their houses just opposite each other, across the street and they even went to same school.More than being friends they were sort of family,as both their parents usually hang out together.
But who knew what laid ahead for these little ones. For the better part, life was just going smooth for both of them in their young world. And it was the Summer vacation that let out some butterflies out of the cocoon.
Darryl was to visit his grandparents living at New York city, but Raquel wasn't very amused with the thought of having to spend her all summers without him.She was used to being him around.
"Darry, cant you tell Grandma to visit you here?" she asked in her childish voice.
But he dint have and answer to her question,he was though trying to find the answer in his head, but he din't say so.
"Who will play with me,then?" she questioned again but this time she expected him to say,but he hadn't even this time.
"I want to come with you too!" she said, her expression positive and willing.
"No! you won't be allowed." he said with an assurance in his voice.
He wasn't very interested either, instead he wanted to stay back and rather enjoy his vacation with her.
But he knew that it wasn't going to happen.
He was so enamored with her that the day they were suppose to leave for NY,he bought her many colorful balloons and asked her to let them off one by one whenever she will miss him.He believed that the balloons will travel all the way across and he would see them in NY city's sky.
His cute, simple faith got her some relief and she let him go,and bid him Goodbye, with a smile.
She so badly wished,if only she could just find enough balloons to tie them on top and it would fly the whole house and take her to NY so that she could meet him.Every morning a new weird wish, sometimes its flying the house and sometimes her bike.

And all throughout the Summers she let go a balloon each day and hoped he saw it and missed her too the way she was remembering him.
Back in NY,an unhappy Darryl spent his time mostly staring out the window into the blue skies wishing to get a glimpse of the balloons.
